1934 German card of US champion swimmer Helene Madison. Card #268 out of a series of 300 cards from the German Garbaty Film Star series. Madison was likely featured because she appeared in two movies after the 1932 Olympics. This made her ineligible for the 1936 Olympics. In the 1932 Olympics, Madison won Gold in the following freestyle events: 100m, 400m, 4 x 100m relay. She also set 16 world records between the years 1930 and 1931. She was actually known as "Helene" but the card spells her name Helen. This card set mostly consists of movie stars but there are a few athletes in the set. These are beautifully embossed cards. The boarders for every person's card are a unique style. Size: 2" x 2 7/16"
